An invitation to the MathWorks annual winter celebration. MathWorks flies in all 3000 employees from their worldwide offices to Boston once a year to come together and discuss the previous year and goals for the upcoming year and then kick back at a lavish party. This years theme was “World Carnival,” featuring entertainment and refreshments from different celebrations from around the world, including Diwali, Mardi Gras, and American Carnivals. A common thread of all of these is illumination in the night, so I took long exposure photographs of different colored lights and used those streaks to construct the “CARNIVAL” lettering. We used a gloss coating on “WORLD” to evoke the darkness of night and contrast with the bright exciting lights of entering such a celebration. Printed with Kaleido inks to make the bright colors pop and a soft touch coating to minimize fingerprinting.

This piece won an American Inhouse Design award from GDUSA in 2015.
